- 婆私咤
- (婆私) Vasiṣṭha, a brahman who is said to have denied the eternity of nirvana, and maintained that plants had lives and intelligence; <Nirvana Sutra> 39. One of the seven ancient (sa) ṛṣis of Brahmanic mythology, one of the champions in the <Ṛg Veda> of the priesthood. Name of a brahman whose mother lost her six sons, she became mad, wandered naked, met the Buddha, was restored and became a disciple. Also 婆吒; 私婆吒; 婆私瑟搋 or 婆私瑟柁.
